Privacy Policy
This site, theaugmentedexpert.com, is operated by Francis Beaulieu, doing business as Cogni6 (Quebec, Canada). We take data protection seriously: it is literally a chapter of the book this site promotes. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have under Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), Canada's PIPEDA, the European GDPR, and comparable laws.
1. Who is responsible
The person in charge of the protection of personal information is Francis Beaulieu, founder of Cogni6. For any question, request, or complaint regarding your personal information, write to francis@cogni6.com.
2. What we collect
- Signup form: your first name, your email address, and the type of practice you select. Providing this information is voluntary and happens only when you submit the form.
- Companion form: your email address, the access code from your book, and the edition you selected. Used to validate your access and notify you when the companion opens.
- Contact form: your name, email address, request type, and message, so we can reply.
- Technical data: our hosting provider (Vercel) processes standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) to deliver and secure the site.
This site uses Google Analytics (Google LLC) to measure aggregate traffic: pages viewed, approximate geographic origin, and form completions. If we run Google Ads campaigns, Google advertising cookies may also be used. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, none of these cookies are set before you accept them through the consent banner (Google Consent Mode v2). Elsewhere, including Canada and the United States, measurement is active by default and you can decline at any time through the banner. Declining does not affect the site. You can change your choice at any time: manage my cookie choice. We do not collect sensitive personal information, and this site is not directed at children under 14.
3. Why we collect it
We use the information you submit to send you the free chapters of The Augmented Expert and occasional emails about the book. If, and only if, you check the corresponding box, we also subscribe you to the Xpert6 newsletter, a weekly email with in-depth articles for experienced consultants; that box is never pre-checked, and you can withdraw either consent independently at any time. The legal basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form. We do not use your information for profiling or automated decision-making.
4. How your information is handled and stored
When you submit the form, your information is transmitted to us by email (through Resend, an email delivery provider) and kept in our professional mailbox. The chapters are sent to you personally. Your information may be processed on servers located outside Quebec and outside Canada, notably in the United States (Vercel, Resend). We only work with providers offering contractual data protection commitments. Fonts are served by Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when the page loads.
5. What we never do
- We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- We never share it with third parties for their own marketing.
- We never send you email without your consent.
6. Retention
We keep your information as long as needed to communicate with you about the book, and we delete it upon your request or when it is no longer necessary for that purpose.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may at any time: access the information we hold about you; ask that it be corrected; withdraw your consent; ask that it be deleted; and ask that it be provided to you in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, or to unsubscribe, write to francis@cogni6.com. We respond within 30 days.
8. Security
We apply reasonable safeguards proportional to the sensitivity of the information: encrypted transmission (HTTPS), access limited to the person responsible, and reputable providers. In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we will notify the affected persons and the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, as required by Law 25.
9. Complaints
If you believe your rights have not been respected, contact us first at francis@cogni6.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca), the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or your local supervisory authority if you are in the European Economic Area.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top reflects the latest version. Material changes will be announced on this page.
